Do you know the red panda ?

Most people know giant panda but have never heard about red panda. It has been classified as a relative of the giant panda, and also of the raccoon, with which it shares a ringed tail.

The red panda shares the giant panda's rainy, high-altitude forest habitat, but has a wider range. Red pandas live in the mountains of Nepal and northern Myanmar (Burma), as well as in central China.

It also eat bamboo but, unlike giant panda, it likes fruit, acorns, roots, and eggs as well.

And above all, red pandas are endangered, victims of deforestation. Their natural space is shrinking as more and more forests are destroyed by logging and the spread of agriculture.

In Paris, I've found that you can see red pandas at The Ménagerie du jardin des plantes not far from the Austerlitz station, so I decided to go there tomorrow with my boyfriend ! =)

So I will upload photos this week-end ;)

I hope you will enjoy them !
